Estate Planning

The three P's — Protection, Provision, Privacy.

Estate planning is a coordination exercise. We work alongside your attorney and tax professional so your investment accounts, beneficiary designations, and titling reflect the plan you've put in place.

P

Protection

Coordinating documents and account titling so your intentions are recorded and accessible when they need to be.

P

Provision

Organizing beneficiary designations and account structure to reflect how you want assets to pass to the people and causes you name.

P

Privacy

Discussing structures that can help keep sensitive financial and family information out of the public record where appropriate.

How we participate

We are not attorneys and we do not draft estate documents. GateKeeper's role is to review how your investment accounts and beneficiary designations line up with the plan your attorney has prepared, to raise questions when we see potential gaps, and to coordinate with your legal and tax professionals as documents are updated.

This page is informational and does not constitute legal or tax advice. Please consult a qualified attorney and tax professional regarding your specific situation.

For clients who prefer do-it-yourself document preparation, our related site ETrustPlan offers a plain-English online tool for assembling a revocable living trust, pour-over will, and funding checklist. ETrustPlan is a separate service from our advisory practice, does not provide legal advice, and documents it produces should still be reviewed by your attorney.

Employer retirement plans in the picture?

For clients whose estate includes an employer-sponsored 401(k) plan they oversee as a business owner, our plan sponsor practice can coordinate retirement plan services for the plan itself.
