How opening an IRA works

Most people finish in about 10–15 minutes.

  1. 1. Check eligibility

A few IRS questions determine whether a Roth or Traditional IRA fits your situation for the current tax year.

  2. 2. Answer the questionnaire

Applicant details, employment, financial profile, risk tolerance, beneficiaries, and how you plan to fund the account.

  3. 3. Review and submit

Every section is listed on a review screen, and you can jump back to edit any answer before submitting.

  4. 4. We prepare your paperwork

Your Charles Schwab documents are prepared and sent securely to our office. We follow up with you to review and sign.

Roth IRA eligibility

Roth IRA contributions are limited by tax filing status and modified adjusted gross income (MAGI). These questions apply the published IRS limits for the 2026 tax year. This is general eligibility information, not tax or investment advice, and our office confirms it with you before anything is signed.

For single, the 2026 Roth phase-out range is $153,000 to $168,000.
